Quick-start primer

First week with the bundle

Fifteen printable pages print, fill in, and carry forward — start with the quickstart and take the first week one small sitting at a time.

Tallyfold · quick-start primer

First week with the bundle

Fourteen printable worksheets plus a quickstart print, fill in, and carry forward — here’s a gentle six-day order that gets the most useful pages working first. One small sitting at a time.

Day 1 — Make it yours

The quickstart is page 1. Keep it in the binder as a soft reminder, not another page to perfect.

  • Write the month name and household name on the quickstart and Monthly Budget pages.
  • Give the binder a visible home — beside the kettle, on the desk, or wherever the month starts.
  • Keep the first sitting small. Fifteen minutes is enough to make the folder yours.

Day 2 — Budget first

Start with what is already known. A useful budget is an honest first draft, not a test you can fail.

  • Fill the Monthly Budget page (page 2) with income and fixed costs.
  • Add the variable spending and savings lines, leaving actuals for the month as they happen.

Day 3 — Bills second

Budget first, bills second. Once those two pages have a place in the binder, the rest of the bundle has a calm spine.

  • Fill the Bill Tracker (page 3) with each bill, amount, and due date.
  • Mark the payments you already know; tick the rest as they clear, not when they arrive.

Day 4 — Savings third

Savings is third because it deserves a place in the plan, even when the first amount is small. Budget, bills, savings: that is the starting ritual.

  • Fill the Savings Tracker (page 4) with one goal that matters now.
  • Write a small monthly contribution, then let the page collect the next deposit.

Day 5 — Notice, do not fix

The remaining worksheets can wait. They become more useful after the budget, bills, and savings pages have one real month behind them.

  • Scan the Subscription Audit, debt, and sinking-fund pages when you have a little more time.
  • Circle one question to revisit instead of trying to solve every line today.

Day 6 — Close the loop

Revisit the binder monthly. Notice what changed, carry forward what helps, and leave the rest for later.

  • File the pages in order: quickstart, budget, bills, savings, then the supporting worksheets.
  • Pick a quiet monthly check-in date and write it on the first page.
